The Pure Rugby prediction league for the 6 Nations Championship…

This is how the scoring system works:

  • Win – Draw – Win (Predicting the winner of the match) || 1 point for correctly predicting the victor of a match or, if you’re brave, 5 points if you rightly predict a draw.
  • Correct Score || 5 Points if you predict exactly the right final score.
  • Winning Margin (+/-1) || 3 points if you correctly guess exactly the right margin of victory. 2 points if you predict the correct winning margin within 1 point either way (e.g. If you predict England to beat Wales by 4 points, you will also get 2 points if England beat Wales by 5 points or by 3 points.)
  • Bonus Points || Bonus points can be spontaneously awarded for making Cadbury-Dan (administrator and overlord of this competition) a cup of coffee in the morning.

** The winner of this incredible competition will be awarded the privilege of an all-expenses-paid trip to Marks & Spencers to buy luxury biscuits for the team.

Weekly Round-Up – Six Nations 2010 – Round 1

A steady, if unspectacular, start to the Six Nations 2010 Prediction League in the most part. Cadbury-Dan and Big-Nath made a statement of intent by correctly guessing the correct margin of victory for the French at Murrayfield, gaining 4 points from the match-up and shooting to joint top of the leaderboard as a result. Gazlaa is a close second after a 3pt haul in the same game and Chris Corleone, true to his word, is floundering at the bottom of the table with a miserable 1pt from the opening round of matches.

UPDATE FROM ADMINISTRATOR.

The atmosphere has descended into anarchy in the PR prediction league with unfounded accusations of cheating by the administrator – specifically the altering of players predictions to benefit the administrator.

I’m sad to inform that this uprising, led by Hannah-Habana and supported by Mrs-White-With-The-Calculator, is the pathetic attempt of desperate individuals to improve their own chances of winning this illustrious event.

May it be known that any further accusations of underhanded tactics by the administrator will result, initially, in the docking of points and, if further attempts to undermine the diligence and professionalism of the administrator are made, disqualification from the competition without appeal.

This is confirmation that Hannah-Habana has received her first and last warning.
This is confirmation that Mrs-White-With-The-Calculator has received her first and last warning.

Weekly Round-Up – Six Nations 2010 – Round 2

The front runners showed no signs of slowing down this week as Big-Nath and Cadbury-Dan proved inseparable and both scored 4 points from the second round of matches. Hannah-Habana also scored 4 points from this round of fixtures with all 4 points coming from the clash between Wales and Scotland at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Habana correctly guessed the correct margin of victory for the Welsh and insured that she is snapping at the heels of the leaders. The other notable achievement came from Mrs-White-With-The-Calculator as she also amassed 4 points with a +/- 1 margin of victory in the Italy v England match helping her solidify her position as a steady competitor for the crown of Pure Rugby Prediction League Champion.

Weekly Round-Up – Six Nations 2010 – Round 3

A gap has emerged at the top of the Pure Rugby Six Nations 2010 Prediction League with the consistently brilliant Cadbury-Dan opening up an imposing lead at the top of the table. Cadbury-Dan added another 5 points to his total thanks mainly to his impressive pessimism about the Welsh teams chances against France. Cadbury-Dan was the only player to bet against Wales and also guessed the correct margin of victory within 1 to gain 3 points from a match where all others failed to register a single point.

It was a poor showing for the majority of the competitors with a disappointing Big-Nath slumping to just 1 point from the entire round. The other big winner from week 3 was Hannah-Habana. Habana’s efforts secured her another 4 point haul and, significantly, has pushed her up to 2nd in table – 3 points behind top spot.

An orderly precession has formed in mid-table with unspectacular scoring and generally rubbish predictions causing many of the competitors to find themselves out of touch and looking like blundering, foolish half-wits. Still, all can change in a week and it only takes a couple of insightful moments of genius to transform the village idiots at the bottom of the table from Septic Pegs to Mystic Megs.

Game On….

Cadbury-Dan Wins the Pure-Rugby.com Six Nations Prediction League! A worthy winner I’m sure you’ll all agree!!

We had a 4-way tie for 2nd in the end after an incredible surge from Jon-Boy and Mrs-White-With-The-Calculator for the last round of matches.

That is all for now… the next prediction league will take place for the Autumn Internationals and will feature a much improved format.
